Change #1 for 2010

The last week of 2009 I decided to apply for a new job position at work. I had been a Financial Specialist for 4.5 years and the shelf life of someone in my position is normally 2.5 years, so I was well over due for a change. I have been craving a new challenge in my career and figured this would be a good start. I interviewed, was offered, and accepted the position of Service Manager all in one week. I am at a totally new branch, with a entirely different staff, doing something completely different. How bout that for a change, huh? As a Service Manager, I will no longer be directly responsible for sales (Yay!!). I am going to be coaching the teller line on their sales and making sure the branch stays in compliance. I am also using this position as a stepping stone the job I really want.

I do have some concerns with this new position though. For starters, the location (out in Alabaster) isn't that convenient to my parents, who pick up Thomas from school more often than not. I am also responsible for someone other than myself, which is going to be the biggest challenge. It's been a long time since I've managed people and hope it's just like riding a bicycle and quickly get into the swing of things. I seriously doubt that though. I know God has a big plan for me and taking this position was not a tough decision. Something told me that it was the right thing to do, so I am going to have faith. I might end up loving this job and totally kicking ass at it, who knows. I've got my fingers crossed.
